Carnell Brandon, 85, of South Main E. Granby, wife of the late John Brandon, died Tuesday, (December 24, 2002) at Saint Francis Hospital. Mrs. Brandon was born in Watertown and resided in Hartford, Bloomfield, and most recently East Granby. She is survived by two sons, Peter of Portland and John Brandon of Southwick, MA; a daughter, Judith Nigro of Florida; BRONSTEIN, Samuel Samuel Bronstein, 91, of West Hartford, died Tuesday (December 24, 2002).

Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Israel and Bessie Bronstein. He graduated from Trinity College in Hartford and received a Masters Degree in Education from New York University. Mr. Bronstein was the chairman of the mathematics department at Weaver High School in Hartford until he retired, he in was 1969. a During member his of retire- the West Hartford Regents.

He leaves his wife, Norma (Goldschmidt) Bronstein; two daughters, Chuck Bronstein of Salt Lake City, UT, and Linda D. DEATH NOTICES BOYLE, Margaret Helen (Spring) Margaret Helen (Spring) Boyle, 94, the widow of John M. Boyle died Christmas Day, Wednesday, (December 25, 2002) in Glastonbury. Born in Springfield, MA she had lived in Manchester for many years before moving to Glastonbury. She spent many years at her summer home at Point O'Woods Beach on South Lyme. Prior to her retirement in 1970, she had taught in the Manchester School System for 34 years.

She taught at the Manchester Green School for many years and later at Nathan Hale School Highland Park School. Margaret received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Boston University in 1931 and her Masters of Science from the University of Connecticut in 1960. She was a communicant and lector at St. Bridget's Church and after her retirement she served on the Board of Directors of the Manchester Visiting Nurses Assoc. and as president for two years.

She was also a member of the American Contract Bridge League for 15 years, a member and Past President of the Retired Teachers' Assoc. of Manchester, long time member of the Catholic Ladies of Columbus Guild at St. Bridget Church and a member of the combined Mother's Circles of Manchester. She is survived by her four children and their spouses Joan and Roger Peterson of Glastonbury, Barbara and John Zawilinski of Killingworth, John and Evelyn Boyle of Boca Raton, FL and Richard Boyle of Fairfield and Mary Boyle of Manchester; ten grandchildren, Roger W. Paul F. Campbell, 72, thersfield, beloved husband of M. Campbell, away (December 2002). Paul was born in Watertown, son of the late Irving and Margaret (McGowan) Campbell. He attended local schools in Watertown and graduated from Watertown High School.

He continued his education at Boston College graduating in 1953. He served his country during the Korean Conflict with the United States Marines. He retired from the Emhart Corporation in 1988 after 30 years of service. After his retirement he did consulting work for Argo Industries in Berlin. He was a member of the Church of the Incarnation in Wethersfield.

Paul lived the last 16 years in Wethersfield and West Harwich Cape MA. He previously lived in Newington belonging to St. Mary Church were he taught CCD classes for many years. He was also a member of the Newington Kiwanis. Besides his devoted wife, Karen, Paul leaves two sons, Pau! Judd Campbell of Framingham, MA, and James P.

and his wife Linda L. Campbell of Newington; a daughter, Margaret Campbell of Hartford; four sisters, Margaret E. Ellsworth, 82, of Portland, died Wednesday, (December 25, 2002) at Middlesex Hospital. The beloved husband of Frances (Banning) Ellsworth, they would have celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on May 19, 2003. Born in Middletown, August 12, 1920, he was the son of McClure E. and Katherine (O'Connell) Ellsworth. Besides his wife, Frances, he is survived by his son, McClure E.

Ellsworth and his special companion Linda Kieth of San Antonio, TX; his two daughters, Deborah A. Ellsworth of Framingham, MA, and Sarah E. Perruccio and her husband Gary of Meriden; three grandchildren, Marissa E. Ellsworth of Charleston, SC, Matthew and Mallory Perruccio of Meriden; a great granddaughter, Hannah Pribilski of Charleston, SC; his sister-in-law, Elizabeth P. Ellsworth of Portland; his brotherin-law, Lewis D.

Banning and his wife Evelyn of Manchester; many nieces and nephews; his lifelong friend, Norman P. Hanson of Portland. He was predeceased by two sisters, Pauline Patricia Csere and Laura E. Ackerman; and a brother, Thomas K. Ellsworth.

A lifelong resident of Portland, he was interested in his town's history. He was a charter member of the Portland Historical Society and was elected as the society's first president. He was a member of the Portland Planning and Zoning Commission and served as chairman for five years. He was a director of Buck Library, a member of the Building Committee for the new Portland Library, and a member of the Center Cemetery Board of Directors. A veteran of World War II, he served overseas in the China, Burma, India Theatre with 24th Combat Mapping Squad (H) and was a member of the C.B.I.

Veteran Association. He was a member of the Carpenter and Joiners Union for 60 years. He was a member of St. Mary Church and Warren Lodge No. 51.

Educated in Portland schools, he also attended the University of Connecticut. An avid collector of music from the Big Band era, he carried on an extensive tape correspondence in the United States as well as with his friend, Stan Nilsen of Grimsby, England. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 30, 10 a.m., at the Portland Memorial Funeral Home, 231 Main Portland, and 11 a.m. in the Church of St. Mary, Portland.

Born in Guilford on December 6, 1933, he was in the Marine Corps for four years, 1952-1956. He was in a Recon serving in Korea from 1953- 1954 where he was wounded in action. Bob was the owner of Clinton Sanitation for 30 years, 1972-2002. During that time he was chosen by consumers to receive the Award of Recognition from the Better Business Bureau of Southeast Connecticut and was the first recipient of the Clinton Chamber of Commerce Education Award. He was a volunteer fireman in Guilford and Clinton and belonged to the Lion's Club and the Veterans' of Foreign Wars.

He will be most remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, survived by his loving children, John R. Herbst, Jr. and Elizabeth A. Herbst, both of Clinton, T. Michael Herbst and his wife, Deborah of Trumbull, Barbara L.

Snow and her husband, Greg of Salem, June Biondi of Westbrook; grandchildren, Rebekah Oman, Hannah Meyer, James Biondi, Timothy and Amanda Herbst and Mark and Krystal Snow. He was the husband of Vera (Bach) Krieger of East Granby for the past ten years. His first wife was Gemma (DiMauro) Krieger who died in 1987. Mr. Krieger was born in Torrington on August 14, 1922, a son of the late Edward and Wilhelmina Krieger and had lived in Torrington most of his life. He had served in the U.S.

Air Force during World War and had worked for the Torrington Company for 20 years, retiring in 1986. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Alan Krieger of Tolland; a daughter, Paula DeFalco of New Hartford; five grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

He was President, Chief Executive Officer and Trustee of Mass Mutual Mortgage Investors, a trust listed on the New York and London Stock Exchange, President and Director of Baystate West. He was President of Mass Mutual Realty Development, a Director of Better Homes for Springfield, a corporator of Baystate Medical Center, Governor-atLarge and Member of the Executive Committee of the Mortgage Bankers Association, Chairman of the Finance Committee of Mercy Hospital and member of the Board of Trustees. He was listed in Who's Who in America and Who's Who in Insurance and Finance.

He acted as financial advisor to the Sisters of Providence and the Felician Sisters of He was a dentield. member of the Board of Governors and Executive Committee of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts. He was a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and the Urban Land Institute in Washington, D.C. He was a member of the Advisory Board of the Real Estate Institute of New York University, a Director of Bay Colony Life Insurance Company of Maryland, President and Director of Mass Mutual Economic and Realty Research, a Member of New York State Employee Retirement System, a member of the Urban Affairs Committee of the National Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Joint Committee on Economic Policy of American Life Convention and the Insurance Association of America. He testified before a subcommittee of the Senate Judiciary on the revision of the Federal Bankruptcy Laws.

Upon his retirement from Massachusetts Mutual in 1984, he became President and Chief Executive Officer of Twin City Federal Bank in New York and retired in 1988. was a member of the Colony Club of Springfield, the Board Room of New York, and Longmeadow Country Club. Mr. Kulik resided in East Longmeadow for 30 years and in Longmeadow for the past 25 years and has been a communicant of St. Mary's Church.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marion (Colbert) Kulik, his children, Nancy Holstein of Mystic, Edward J. Kulik Jr. and his wife Mary Beth Kulik of Rye Brook, NY and Betsy Phillips and her husband Claudio Phillips of Chappaqua, NY; his grandchildren, Lauren and Melanie Holstein, Allison, Jason, Jonathan and Michael Kulik, and Aemilia, Robertson, and Nicolas Phillips. For additional information and directions visit www.ForastiereFuneralHome.com. of We- Karen (McCue) passed Friday 27, LEGARE, Dennis Dennis Legare, 56, of Mission Viejo, CA, formerly of Hartford and Bristol, died Sunday, (December 15, 2002) of cancer. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late William and Alice Legare, and had lived in Mission Viejo, CA for several years. He was predeceased by four brothers, Leonard, Alvin, Leo and Edgar Goodin; and two sisters, Francetta White and Doris Marianella.

He is survived by his daughter, Michelle and her husband, Jonathan Klock; his grandson, Trevor Klock; his son, William Legare, all of East Hartford; and his brother, Paul Goodin of Ellington. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served as a gunner in the U.S. Army. Prior to his illness, he was employed by Cannon as a technical instructor. He was a happy person who enjoyed a good laugh with friends and family.
