Lufkin man sentenced to 85 years in prison in connection with near-fatal 2020 shootingLUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - A jury sentenced a Lufkin man to nearly a century of jail time in connection with a near-fatal shooting in 2020. Davonsea Thomas, now 21 but who was 17 at the time of the crime, was accused of shooting 17-year-old LaPatrick Wright near Lufkin Middle School on Jan. 28, 2020. The jury on Wednesday found Thomas guilty of on charges of aggravated robbery and aggravated assault. After completing deliberations on Thursday, the jury sentenced him to 85 years with a $5,000 fine for the aggravated robbery charge, and 20 years with a $10,000 fine for the charge of aggravated assault.
