When does Pecan Pie expire?
Homemade pecan pie will remain fresh for about 2 days at room temperature, and about a week in the fridge. Store-bought pecan pie (unopened) can last up to a week past the 'sell by' date if kept at room temperature. If refrigerated, expect a longer shelf-life of about 2 weeks past the sell-by date. Frozen pecan pie can keep for up to 3 months.
How do you tell if Pecan Pie is bad?
If it smells odd or sour, it's probably gone bad. Look for any signs of mold, notably fuzzy spots of white, blue or green. Also, check the crust for dryness or sogginess - both could indicate spoilage. Lastly, if you notice the pie filling starting to ooze liquid, it might be time to let it go.
