Warning: You WILL Want a Snack After Reading This Post About the Oreo Cookie Turning 100 (2024)

My boyfriend is a serious chocoholic, so during our five years together we've done quite a bit of dunking...cookies into milk, that is. And although he was an expert in the art of cookie dunking prior to meeting me, he has said that I greatly improved his snacking experience (one of the best compliments I've received!) by introducing the spoon into the mix. I mean, how can you dunk cookies into milk without having a spoon to scoop up all the bits that fall off? That's one of the best parts of the dunk for me.

A cute couple snacking on Oreos. I used a photo of them instead of us because we're way less civilized snackers. There would be crumbs all over the bed.

As a cookie lover, I'm very happy to celebrate the 100th birthday of the Oreo today. The Oreo--known as "Milk's Favorite Cookie"--is a snack that I have a lot of appreciation for. Such a simple design--the cookie sandwich!--but such a great taste with the creamy center. I'll take an original over a Double Stuf any day. I've never had a "twist, lick, dunk" moment. (I like my Oreos in one piece when the hit my milk mug.) And I *always *have them with milk. ("Ice cold milk and an Oreo cookie/They forever go together/What a classic combination!")
